NHS Gynaecologists are invited to join based on their laparoscopic surgical workload. Most advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures in the northeast of England are performed in NHS Hospitals, although many gynaecologists do not perform these operations. All members undertake advanced Minimal Access Surgical procedures as part of their normal NHS workload

 

Meetings will be held quarterly with the Terms of Reference, agenda and format to be confirmed. Ethicon Endosurgery have kindly agreed to sponsor these meetings.

Trained as gynaecologist in Wessex deanery in 2004 before moving to Newcastle to complete higher degree (MD) in ovarian cancer research in Newcastle University. Mr Remko Beukenholdt was born and raised in The Netherlands, where he qualified from the Erasmus University Medical School in Rotterdam. His Post Graduate training was in The West Midlands and in South Wales. He was appointed Consultant in 2004.

Mr Beukenholdt has a keen interest in pre-cancerous conditions and laparoscopic surgery. He also runs the ambulatory Out-Patient Menstrual Disorder Service in Bishop Auckland. He is also a Royal College Tutor for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Darlington and enjoys educational activities and responsibilities.
